This is hilarious, my sister and me, both in our 70’s were chatting about this product and I reminded her about the morning ritual back in 1950’s.Mum with spoon of this evil smelling stuff trying to get it down our throats to the baratone voice of ‘uncle Norman’s’ voice from the wireless, exorting Melbournekids everywhere to sip sip sip, at Hypol time. Terrible!
I was born a year after you and I STILL can’t forget cod liver oil. My mum, being convinced that it would do me good, gave me a tablespoon every Friday. Mind, I got two tablespoons if I’d been naughty. It was off white in colour, viscous and stank. It came in a brown bottle, like the one in your photo, and the brand was Hypol. You can actually still buy it at Chemists Warehouse.
